The Honorable Melvin A. “Mickey” Steinberg served as Lt. Governor of the State of Maryland from 1986 to 1994. Governor Steinberg previously served as President of the Maryland Senate from 1983 to 1986. Governor Steinberg began his career as a State Senator from Baltimore County in 1966 and served as Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and Vice Chairman of the Judicial Proceedings Committee. In 2002, he served on the Executive Committee of Governor Robert Ehrlich’s transition team, directing the evaluation of the Department of Transportation, Department of General Services and the Board of Elections. Most recently, he served on the Governor’s 2005 Tax Policy Commission. A prominent businessman, Lt. Governor Steinberg’s legal career has consisted of advice and counsel to business, trade and labor organizations throughout the region. He has been a member of the Maryland Bar for over 30 years and is associated with the firm in an “of counsel” position with the firm.
